What are the benefits of Morpheus8 over other skin resurfacing devices?
Morpheus8 goes deeper and, by targeting the deeper layers of the dermis, your body’s natural anti-aging process kicks into gear. This leads to better results with less downtime because the process salvages the superficial layer of the skin while working deep beneath the surface of the skin.
Can Morpheus8 be used in areas other than the face?
Morpheus8 can be used to treat any area of the body. Unlike other lasers, Morpheus8 technology is safe for all skin tones and poses minimal risk of hyperpigmentation for both facial and body treatments.
What does Morpheus8 work best on?
Morpheus8 is clinically proven to improve a wide-variety of cosmetic concerns including skin laxity, fine lines & wrinkles, stretch marks, acne & surgical scars and cellulite.
Should I take any precautions/preparations prior to treatment?
You should moisturize and avoid direct sun exposure on the area treated for a few weeks before and after each treatment.
What should I expect during and after my Morpheus8 treatment? Are there any side effects?
The procedure can take anywhere between 15-60 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients will need to apply a topical lidocaine numbing agent on clean, dry skin to the treatment area 1 hour before the procedure. Post procedure, patients should expect to see pinpoint scabbing and/or bruising for a few days, and slight redness for up to 1 week. Patients can apply makeup and go back to normal activities 48 hours after the procedure.
When can I expect to see results?
Results can sometimes be experienced within a few days, however, the most noticeable results will be noticeable after a couple weeks. Improvements will continue up to three months after treatment. Depending on your goals, your provider may recommend a series of 3 or more Morpheus8 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, with maintenance treatment(s) recommended every 6 to 12 months to optimize results.
How much does the Morpheus8 cost? How does its cost compare to surgery?
The cost of one treatment can range from $500-$1,500 . The price varies based on the size of the surface area being treated. Because 3 treatments are recommended, we do offer package discounts if you purchase multiple sessions at once. Compared to surgery, Morpheus8 is much more cost effective as skin tightening surgeries can range well over $7,000 as a baseline.
How do I care for my skin after a Morpheus8 treatment?
A topical ointment may be applied to the treatment area, but no bandages or wraps are necessary. Your provider will inform you when you may resume the use of your usual skin care products. Treat the skin gently, avoid scrubbing or trauma to the treated area. Use water only or a gentle cleanser for the first 24-72 hours. We also recommend Alastin Skin Nectar (2x/day) application after washing for the first 3-5 days. Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation). All patients should ensure the use of a physical sunblock (SPF 30+) after 24-48 hours.
At Frederick Dermatology Associates, we also may add Platelet Rich Protein (PRP) topically after we have treated the resurfaced area to maximize your results and healing. Ask us about this if you would like to add this onto your Morpheus8 treatment.
How painful is Morpheus8?
Most patients will be fine after an application of topical numbing 45-60 minutes prior to the treatment. We will prescribe you a lidocaine/tetracaine numbing compound so you can apply it before you arrive to your appointment. Only a small amount of the compound will be needed. Apply the compound by massaging it into the targeted area. For some specific treatment areas, we may require you to numb/apply the compound in office. If patients feel like this is not enough pain control, we can prescribe oral medications to help with comfort.
How can I optimize my Morpheus8 results with skin care?
In order to optimize your anti-aging and skin tightening results, you should have a routine at home complete with a gentle cleanser, sunscreen of SPF 30 or more, a retinol for evenings, and a good moisturizer. To really see a boost in your anti-aging, ask our skincare specialist in-office about TNS Advanced+ or Revox Line Relaxer. We’re always happy to take a look at your current skincare routine to make sure you’re getting the best results possible!
How long will my Morpheus8 treatment take?
Length of procedure depends on the area of treatment, with the average time being between 30-60 minutes.
How long do Morpheus8 results last?
Depending on several factors like age, weight/hormones, lifestyle, skincare regimen and treatment goals, the longevity of results differs person to person. After an average of 3 treatments your results will take effect within the first month, optimize six months after treatment and last for up to 12 months or longer. We recommend patients schedule maintenance treatments every 6-12 months to optimize and preserve their results.
